Vacation Bible School was June 13 - 17, 2011

The theme of VBS was Big Jungle Adventure - A Faith Journey with Jesus.  We had a great week reflecting the love God has given us to the kids here at Grace and in the community.

A big Thank You to all of our volunteers!!!

VBS Service Project
Our service project for VBS had two components.  First we collected paper goods for the Durham Rescue Mission.  Secondly, we collect a money offering for the"Lutheran Malaria Initiative".  The organization collects funds to provide insecticide treated bed nets and other medical supplies for the battle with Malaria in Africa.  For more information go to:  http://www.lutheranmalaria.org

The service project for VBS this year will have two components. The first component is a local project. We will be collecting various items for the Durham Rescue Mission. The items they need changes from time to time so once we get close to the start of VBS we will provide a detailed list of items we will collect.

The second component is for an international project. We will be collecting funds that will go toward the Lutheran Malaria Initiative. The LCMS and Lutheran World Relief have partnered in this project to encourage VBS programs to support this important cause. $1 can provide medicine for a child with malaria. $10 can provide a family with an insecticide-treated bed net. $50 can pay for malaria prevention messages on a local radio station. $300 can train a health care worker to diagnose and treat malaria. In addition to our VBS offerings, we will also collect donations from the rest of the congregation to help support this important ministry.
