Urban Ministries:
Food Collection for Urban Ministries---Non-perishable food items are collected on the first Sunday of every month.  Donations may be placed in the designated bin in the narthex.

Military Ministry:
We have a stack of shipping boxes and cases of popcorn and ramen noodles that are ready to be shipped to our servicemen in Iraq and Korea.  We need folks willing to take a box, pack it and to ship it to our servicemen.  Customs forms are on the Military Ministry table.  If you wish to purchase your own items to send, energy bars and other snacks that travel well in pockets are greatly appreciated; however, no pork product may be included in boxes.  Monetary assistance for postage is also welcome.

Shoebox Ministry:
Thank you to all who filled shoe boxes for the Shoebox Ministry, Operation Christmas Child, and important ministry to children in need around the globe.  The Grace congregation filled and sent off 64 shoe boxes to be distributed worldwide.
DUKE LUTHERANS - Home Away from Home
Can you help?

While at college, students need a place to find themselves within the body of Christ that spans age, race, ethnicity, cultural habits and political particularities.  Now, as always, students look for a home within the church.

This unique opportunity allows congregants of any age and any family situation develop relationships with young people from around the world who come to study at Duke.  Treat the students as your own family: invite your student to dinner, visit on campus for a special event, introduce newcomers to Durham, and provide a retreat from campus life in your home.

Through Eucharist each week, Christ binds us together in His one Body and with His one Blood.  Developing a "Home Away from Home" with a student allows congregants to experience the reality of this ever-growing family of Christ first hand.  Not only will your gifts meet the needs of a student, each student offers matchless opportunities for learning and growing in Christ.

If you're interested in being connected with an incoming student, please email Andrew Tucker, the Lutheran Campus Minister (dukelutheran@gmail.com).
