Other Groups:
There are several people interested in a crafts group--sewing, knitting, crocheting, etc.; a walking group--drop your children off and walk at Duke; gardening group--help us with our school garden; a science committee--to create various science exploration experiences throughout the year.  If you weren't able to attend the parent/teacher meeting but would like to participate in any of these, please let me know.  I'll post the sign up sheets on the bulletin board opposite the three's classroom.

School Board:  We are looking for a parent to serve as a member of our School Board, which meets once each month.  We welcome parent input.  Meetings are held on Mondays and run from 5:45-7:00 p.m. and we are very good about keeping to this time frame.  If you are interested in becoming a member of this group, please let me know.

Lunch Bunch will be held Monday through Thursday this year. There is NO Friday Lunch Bunch. Lunch Bunch is offered for three and four year olds only, except in special circumstances arranged for in advance.

The Activity Fee schedule (provided during parent orientation) is given with a worksheet, and parents should deduct fees which are already covered by personal museum memberships from the total. Also, each child must have a Miss Mollie's t-shirt, as these are required for trips. If you have one from last year or from an older child that you wish to use, it is permissible to deduct this fee also.

Tote Bag: Each child should bring a tote bag or book bag to school each day. We will not send home papers or projects except in child's book bag or tote, as it is too difficult to monitor loose papers.

Entrance to building through the red door is open between 8:50 and 9:20 each school day. We have recently installed an intercom system which should be used to request access after 9:20.

Preschool Pantry Items Needed
Miss Mollie's has built a Preschool pantry over the past year.  We collect specific items and package them together into balanced meals which are given out to people who come to the church seeking assistance.  Our cupboard is nearly bare and we would welcome donations of the following: canned green beans, corn or other vegetables, tuna or beans/other protein, fruit cups, oatmeal packets, dry milk or other drinks.  Items can be placed in the box outside the kitchen.  Thank you for helping to feed the many who come to our doors.

School Needs

Some parents have asked what items might be on a "wish list"  for the upcoming school year.  Three of our biggest needs are for Clorox Anywhere Hard Surface sanitizing spray, paper towels and Kleenex.  Other items that would be appreciated include glue sticks, colored tissue paper and glitter for use in the classrooms, hula hoops, boxes of goldfish or graham crackers for the snack pantry.  Thank you for asking.

Early Head Start Program
We are grateful for our new connection with the Early Head Start Program, which has brought new and vibrant life to our school community.  Not only have children and families we are able to sponsor through this program added a new dimension, the EHS staff have been wonderful in building bridges to new cultures and experiences.  To date, we have had a mariachi band, wonderful food for the whole school, the famous "three-milk-cake," and welcome into a very celebratory culture in our Latino families.
