The Grace House
A Ministry of Grace Lutheran Church
In Cooperation with Host Homes of Duke University Medical Center

|
The Grace House is a Care Ministry of Grace Lutheran Church, in cooperation with the Host Homes program of Duke University Medical Center, providing free and accessible short-term housing for family members of patients at Duke Hospital. This ministry is offered as a helping hand to those in times of family crisis. The congregation is committed to providing additional services to family members as needed, coordinated by the Grace House Administrator.
The Grace House occupies the upstairs floor of an historic house in Trinity Park, adjacent to Grace Lutheran Church. The home is on the Durham bus route, providing easy access to Duke Hospital, and is also one block from Duke's East Campus, also allowing transportation through the Duke University bus system.
It is our prayer that this space will be a place for comfort and refreshment in the midst of the anxiety of hospitalization of a family member. In addition to receiving referrals through the Host Homes Program of Duke University Medical Center, we are also committed to serving families with similar needs who are referred through our Preschool, Miss Mollie's School of Grace, and through the network of Lutheran congregations.
If you would like to be involved in this ministry (helping with occasional cleaning, transporting family members to grocery stores or giving a tour of the city, providing a meal, visiting with them in the hospital, etc.), please contact Jan Graham or Pastor Bryan. The first guests moved into the Grace House on Monday, September 18, 2006. Guests are included in our prayer ministry and are being served in other supportive ways by various members of our congregation.
