Text: John 13:20-35
Prayer pointers: To rejoice in the Lord’s love for you
To glorify the Son in your words and actions
WE CONTINUE IN THE MARCH of the martyrs through the Christmas season and arrive at the Feast Day of St. John, Apostle and Evangelist. It is said that these three are included because Stephen witnessed with both his words and his bodily death to the Lordship of Jesus Christ; the Holy Innocents witnessed with their bodily deaths; and John witnessed with his words, dying at an old age on the island of Patmos far from his home and kin. John, the Beloved Disciple who wrote of the divinity of the Christ and of God’s all-encompassing love, illumines our understanding of the purpose of Jesus’ birth. He never abandoned his Lord, no matter how far away the road and life took him from what he had known.
I wonder as I wander out under the sky How Jesus, the Savior, did come forth to die For poor ordn’ry people, like you and like I. I wonder as I wander out under the sky.
May you know Christmas joy ~ Pr. Dave Brooks
