To not give in to hurry
To remember for whom you were made
To seek the Lord where he may be found
Today’s text: John 6:60-71
PETER SPOKE TRUTH: “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”
We like to think of our days and times as unique, as if people of any other time or place did not face what we do. In one sense, that may be true; we do have circumstances that are distinct, if not different. But we are not the first people to face pandemic; we are not the first people to wrestle with political issues; we are not the first people to wonder about homes, family, friends, jobs, the future, or any of the other things that occupy our brains.
So, beware the vanity that says that the past has nothing to say to us. Let us be especially careful not to absorb too much of the current age and its worldly wisdom. The Spirit of God is not a spirit of confusion, and much of what we read or view for information and inspiration distracts us from our walk with God. There are lots of words out there; let us go to the Living Word for whom our hearts are made.
May your day be grace-filled ~ Pr. Dave Brooks
