Sunday, 17th Week after Pentecost

Text: Matthew 5:13-20

Prayer Pointers:

To be salt and light wherever you are

To remember that all good gifts come from God

DISCIPLESHIP IS BOTH active and passive, both giving and receiving, an inhaling of the Spirit and an exhaling of the same Spirit. We are beggars, as Luther famously said; we wait upon God who gives to us all that we need. We have received a call, an invitation to follow. Answering that call, we become actors, working with God to let the blessings of the Kingdom spread far and wide, salt that flavors the whole dish, light that fills the whole room.

Come! live in the light!

Shine with the joy and the love of the Lord!

We are called to be light for the kingdom,

to live in the freedom of the city of God!

We are called to love tenderly.

We are called to serve one another, to walk humbly with God.

May your day be grace-filled ~ Pr. Dave Brooks
