The Lord’s Providence

I often sit outside on my deck and watch the birds at my feeders. I have three feeders and a suet holder that I always try to keep filled. I really enjoy watching the birds come and go, from large woodpeckers, to the tiniest chickadees and house finches. Some days it seems as if there are hundreds of birds, coming and going.

In Matthew 10:29-31 we are told, “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

So, don’t you think God is paying attention in your life, and cares for you, from the biggest things down to the smallest things? Just remember the sparrows.

I got my hair cut yesterday after 14 months of Covid restrictions and just staying away from non-essential human contacts. It was great to see my hairdresser after 14 long months. Needless to say, there was quite a pile of hair on the floor when she was finished. And to think the Lord knows how many hairs that was!

Be it sparrows or the number of hairs on your head, the Lord knows! He cares for all of His creation, and He cares for us! We should be continually dependent on Him, and in all circumstances and situations, be unafraid and cast our care on Him who cares for us.

The next time you enjoy the birds or comb your hair, praise the Lord for His providence! May your day be blessed with the Lord’s peace.
