Prayer Pointers:
For ears to hear the voice of Jesus
To answer his call and not delay

Today’s text: Hebrews 3:1-11
THE AUTHOR OF HEBREWS reminds us that, as Christians, we “share in a heavenly call.” From our various walks of life, our various ways of living in the world, the great variety of our stations in life, we have been called together, brought into one household by the work of the Son. Yet our calling is no feather in our caps; we are, left to our own devices, not righteous. In Deuteronomy 9 Moses admonishes his people by reminding them that it was not because of their excess of righteousness that God gave them the Land, but simply by his own mercy. Hebrews, quoting this passage, reminds us that we are being built into something grand, but the building is not greater than the builder—it is the builder to whom glory should be given.
As we heard yesterday, so again today: Remember! Remember who has called you through his Word and the preaching in his name; remember who has made it possible for you and me to call upon his name; remember who has made us one people to the glory of his name. “Let those who boast, boast in the Lord!”
